I have discovered that there are a couple things that the World’s Biggest Toddler Handbook didn’t prepare me for.

Item # 6598:  Daylight Savings Time does not apply to toddlers / preschoolers.  They will not sleep in for that magical additional hour.  Nope, in fact they’ll probably wake up an hour early and rob you of two hours of sleep instead of one.  The book should have told me that DST really sucks for that.

Item # 7415:  When a toddler / preschooler discovers a gigantic bowl of tootsie pops that have been allocated to be handed out to trick or treaters said toddler / preschooler will proceed to open said tootsie pops, lick it once, put it back in the bowl (sticky side down) and open another one…..until the entire bowl is now filled with open, half eaten tootsie pops.  The book should have told me that Tootsie pops should be hidden at all times.

Item # 1524:  When a bowl of goldfish (the crackers not the marine life) are placed in front of a toddler / preschooler in an attempt to distract said toddler / preschooler from the large bowl of candies designated for trick or treaters be sure to keep track of where the goldfish go.  It is important that you confirm that the goldfish are consumed by the toddler and not being poured into the candy bowl in exchange for candy.  The book should have told me that goldfish don’t distract very well when there is candy around.

Item # 9367:  Bath time + loads and loads of bubbles = good times but not in the way that you would expect.  If you have a toddler that is like my toddler, one that is ‘busy’ all the time bath time is no exception.  Filling the bathtub with tons of bubbles to make it more attractive to the toddler may seem like a good idea.  But don’t give them a plastic, dollar store measure cup to play with in the bath because, if you have a toddler like mine, you will end up wearing the bubbles and he will be trying to drink the water.  The book should have told me that there is something in bath water that makes it taste super yummy toddlers.

Now that I have discovered all these things I am going to add them into the book.  While I’m doing that, head over to the Un Mom, I think she is playing video games.
