Not yet

When I was pregnant with Maks just about all the people that I encountered said that I would go full term.  They were wrong and I knew that they would be.  But this time around everyone is the opposite.

Because of my size they are convinced that I am not going to make it to term.  But I think that they may be off.  I think that this kid may end up making it all the way to end and maybe then some.

So I am holding off on getting direct mail postcards for the birth announcements until this baby makes an appearance.  Which was the opposite of what I did with Maks.

Waiting

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

As of next week I will be 37 weeks pregnant.

I am pretty much organized.  I have my hospital bag mostly packed.  I still need to throw in stuff me to wear if I have to spend the night (which is most likely going to happen) and stuff to come home in.  Coming home is fairly easy.  It is the finding something to wear while in the hospital that is proving to be a problem.  I want to nurse and I don’t have any button up pjs.  In fact I have no pjs at all.  I sleep in granny nightgowns (yes, Millhouse is a lucky man!!) and I don’t want to take them to the hospital.  And I am scared to go buy something because I don’t know what size I am going to be.  After Maks was born my pre-mat “fat” clothes fit but I don’t think that will be happening this time around.  So I am left with nothing for me in the overnight bag.  Hopefully Beanz will be able to do some last minute shopping for me when the baby gets here.

Also, work has gotten super, duper boring.  I am so tired of going in am so happy that this is my last week.  I have one of those really boring accounting jobs and now that the new girl is fully trained I have nothing to do.  So I spend the majority of my time trying to look busy and counting down the minutes.

All in all this pregnancy has seemed longer than my pregnancy with Maks and I getting to the point where I am super duper anxious to meet this new baby.

Summer 2010

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

It’s August 15, 2010.  You know what that means?  In give or take a couple of days we will be two weeks away from September.  In my head that means that summer will be over.

Is it just me or did summer fly by?

Mind you the majority of my summer was celebrated in June and July.  I knew that come August I would be a miserable biotch and that outdoor activities in high humidity would not be a good idea so we went to the beach, picnics, hikes and amusement parks all before I started complaining.

The next couple of weeks we plan to spend relatively close to home.  You will have BBQ’s, fill up the inflatable pool and hit the nearby parks.  But there will not be any far away treks for this chick.  Mostly because I am afraid of going into labour hours away from my hospital but also because sitting for long periods of time makes me really, really grouchy.

I am hoping that next year we can do an honest to goodness roadtrip.  I am hoping we can see the East Coast or at the very least the Tulip Festival in Ottawa.  But for right now I will enjoy the heat watching informercials about promo keychains from my air conditioned living room and wait for number two to arrive.

Spic and Span

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

We’ve hired a cleaning lady.  With my ever growing belly, chores have become very difficult.  I mentioned this to my mom and she got into contact with one of her friends that  cleans for a living.

Now she is going to come once a week to tidy things up.  She is going to do the majority of the mopping, sweeping, and cleaning the bathrooms.  This helps me out in a big way.  Even though we have had to cancel our roadside assistance club membership.

But so far having a cleaning lady seems worth it.

I like Spam and not the kind in the can

This morning I woke up to 55 new comments on my blog.  Now I know that this isn’t right.  My blog is a blip in the world of blogs so if I get 55 comments in a month that is a miracle.  So 55 in a night when I haven’t written anything that day means one thing, spam.

I like spam.  Now that doesn’t mean I want to be bombarded with it but I find it interesting.  Here’s what I mean:

Natasha likes getting it from behind by horses in Russia – see I never knew this about Natasha but I think she should look into some alternate forms of entertainment.

Mason has the hook up on cheap insurance for ipads - this is good to know if I ever get an iPad.

VirtualDrugstore can hook me up with all kinds of prescription pills  – How convenient!  Maybe all pharmacies should be online.

And my most favourite kind of spam:

The kind in Russian and Polish, that I can’t read.  I just tend to assume that it is Natasha telling me about her love of horses.

Slightly Panicked

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

I am panicking as a direct result of procrastination.  My lack of organization this time around has finally caught up with me and now I am running scared.  I attempted to pack my hospital bag last night when I realized something.

  • I don’t have a bag.
  • I don’t have any toiletries
  • I don’t have any clothes for the baby.  All the stuff I washed and put away were for 6 months and older.  I have no newborn or 3 month clothes.
  • I don’t have any clothes for me to wear in the hospital.  I don’t own any pajamas or bedroom slippers.
  • I don’t have pads
  • I don’t have swaddling blankets

I swear I went through the list that the hospital gave me.  Stinky and I went shopping to make sure that we had everything and I really did think that I was ready but I’m not.

I guess I shouldn’t have spent so much time looking at designer ties.

I am now slightly panicked.

OK, maybe more than slightly.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

This isn’t a review of the book.  I did read the book.  I do have a reviewed planned for the book but it is still in my head and I haven’t gotten around to shaking it out of my head yet.  When I do, I will let you know.

My whole purpose of this post is to talk about sandwiches.  Swedish sandwiches in particular.

How random is that?!  It is almost as random as doing a post on personalized basketballs.

The book took place mostly in Sweden and as such they ate a lot of Swedish food.  Now I willingly admit that I don’t know much about Swedish food, unless you count Swedish fish but those little red delights aren’t really from Sweden and they aren’t really fish so I don’t think that they count.

But based on this book, Swedish food is a lot of sandwiches and coffee and not the kind of sandwich that I would want to eat either.  They had liverwurst and mustard, pate and pickles, and lots and lots of cheese.  Now I am not sure if these sandwiches that they consumed all the time were accurate of what the Swedish are actually eating.

So I am throwing it out there, do these sandwiches actually exist?  Or was the author totaling messing with the North Americans and the Swedish eat way better than this?

Round Ligament Pain

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Currently I am on some impromptu bedrest.  I am experiencing some killer round ligament pain that has consistently gotten worse as the week went on.  I called my midwife at 9am today and she sent me home with the instructions to rest for the remainder of the day.

So I have been home for most of the day trying to take it easy.  I am not really a take it easy kind of person though.  I never really stop moving and this is hard.  I even tried to sleep but I couldn’t.  If I had a natural sleep aid I so would have taken it.  It seems like the only time I am not in pain is when I am sleeping.  But I didn’t have any so I just took half a Tylenol instead.  It helped with the pain but I still haven’t really slept.

I am thinking that tonight is going to be an early night.

Should do vs. Will do

Friday, July 9th, 2010

With baby # 2 arrival looming on the horizon, I am decided to get cracking on my baby to do list.  My plan for this weekend is to make Millhouse help me get all of the below done.

  • Clean out the spare room
  • Clean out the spare room closet
  • Get plastic storage boxes out of the basement and go through the baby stuff that I saved and make sure that it is still OK for this baby.
  • Wash baby stuff I saved
  • Put away the baby stuff that I have saved
  • Pick up paint
  • Paint spare room
  • Bring crib out of the basement
  • Set up crib
  • Get baby bedding
  • Wash baby bedding
  • Put baby bedding in crib.
  • Wash cloth diapers.

Now with that being said, most likely none of that is going to end up getting done.  What I figure is going to happen this weekend is:

Oh, Mr Postman

Dear Silver BMW

I realize that you have quite a bit of money.  I know that you work hard selling Lipofuze.  And good on you for being successful but that doesn’t mean that you have to behave like an ass.

I know that the daycare parking lot is small and your big car has issues fitting nicely into a spot but that doesn’t mean that you have to parellel park across three spots so that no one comes near your car every single day.

Maybe you should park in the back by the dumpster.  No one parks there and it is guaranteed that no one will go near your car.

In case you were wondering I was the one that complained to the centre director,  I think that your behaviour is ridiculous.

Kind Regards,

Meli

P.S.  Nice car
