Snow Day Shenanigans

*This was supposed to post yesterday.  Oh well, better late than never**

Snowageddon was supposed to hit us hardcore last night.  And for the most part it did.

This weird combination of wet snow, actual snow and freezing rain came down around midnight and continued to come down for most of the morning.  It was good times if you like shoveling, snow banks, slush splashing, spin outs and below subpar driving conditions.

If you are cool with all that, today was the day for you.

I am not cool with all that.

The school boards did what most parents expected them to do.  They canceled bus service which means unless you live directly across the street or next door to the school, you are not going.  So many, many kids got a snow day today.  As a result a lot of people took the day or “worked from home”.

I did neither.

The boys went to daycare and I came in to work.

And no I am not a glutton for punishment.  The boys went into daycare because I thought that Beanz had class today and I couldn’t leave them with my dad because he had an appointment in the afternoon.  If I had known that her class was canceled, I would have kept them home.  And being the stellar Auntie / nanny that she is, she got them early* from daycare and threw them into the backyard to assault the snow to their hearts content.

I was the only one in physically in the office from my department today.  Everyone else has company issued laptops and they are able to work from home, so they worked from home.  Coming in to work wasn’t as bad as I expected.  I drove in slowly and since so many people stayed off the roads, there was minimal traffic.  Most of my clients weren’t in the office so I had a pretty quiet day.

But it wasn’t without its casualties.

My travel mug broke.  The insulated inner layer completely detached itself from the stainless steel outer layer just as I was filling it up with coffee.  I was lucky that no coffee actually made contact with me but now I am travel mug – less.

I had to *purchase* my coffee today.

Imagine!

Today was one of those days that called for cookies.

*she waited until after the daycare fed them lunch because she didn’t know what to make for them and it is just easier if the daycare feeds them for her.  If you know Beanz, you know she doesn’t cook.

  1. Ummm- dont you have a Fantasy travel mug that could have been used as a replacement?

  2. It was the effin’ Fantasy one that broke. I had to start using my other mug, super jumbo again.
