Cold Nights
Both boys inherited Millhouse’s allergy to blankets. Neither of them particularly likes to be covered when they sleep. They have some sort of sixth sense that tells them that fuzzy, warm fleece blankets have been placed over them and they promptly kick it off.
This drives me crazy. It’s winter. It’s Canada. It gets cold at night especially in the boys rooms. I have checked their vents and they are open but their rooms don’t seem to get the same amount of heat that the other rooms get. So even though they are in warm pajamas, because their rooms still get cold at night, I worry that they are getting cold at night.
But they refuse to cover up.
It’s so bad that I sneak into their room after they’ve gone to sleep and kicked off their blankets and cover them back up. But the blankets never stay on them. I was considering getting Maks an electric blanket for Christmas but using it like a sheet instead of a blanket. I would have him sleep on top of it and when it got really cold, I would turn it on. It’s not something that I would keep on all the time. I would layer it under the fitted sheet on his bed and use it as extra padding when it wasn’t turned on. But I’m not sure how safe that is. Especially since Maks has accidents every once in a while. To me wetting the bed when there is something electric in bed with you doesn’t seem very safe. Plus, I don’t know how durable electric blankets are. Maks is very rough and tumble, even when he sleeps and I can see a delicate sort of blanket getting ruined fairly quickly.
Baby is another story. An electric blanket is not an option for him. He would destroy it. He throws his blankets out of his crib when I put him down to bed. He will pull out his blankets, roll them into balls and throw them around his crib. When he gets tired, he sprawls out on top of his rolled up blankets and falls asleep in all sorts of weird positions. I was thinking that I get a space heater for him. But again safety is an issue for me. I don’t trust space heaters and I am not too keen on having one in the room with a blanket throwing baby.
If anyone has any suggestions, I gladly welcome them.
Fleece pjs and socks, my boys are the same.
I think it is a boy thing.
